Friends of Team Hikurangi
Thank you for the generous support from…
Commonsense Organics
Commonsense Organics is more than an organics store, it’s an institution. This family-run business is fully engaged with the community and growers. Staff are treated like family, great newsletters are thoughtfully produced every season. They were inaugural sponsors of Bike to Work Day and they contribute to a flourishing community in everything they do, such as supporting intrepid charities who are cycling the length of the country to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of in the name of cycling and smarter transport infrastructure! It all began in 1975, when Jim Kebbell and Marion Wood bought 4.8 hectares of land in Te Horo in 1975 with several other families, and named it Common Property. In 1991 Jim and Marion founded Commonsense Organics, and 21 years on it continues to operate with environmental sustainability, fair trade and social and ethical responsibility at the heart of everything it does.
The Fairground Foundation:
The Fairground Foundation, funded primarily by ecostore, is committed to leading by example. They believe in a healthy and sustainable New Zealand, so Fairground has decided to join us on the road, riding in the name of smarter transport, and rallying up support for our smarter transport vision. And they’re lending some pedal power…lookout for Fairground Business Manager, Brian Nelson riding from Tuakau to Raglan!
All Good Bananas:
All Good Bananas are another great company into living sustainably, and are committed to changing the world, ‘one banana at a time’. Founded on the principle that “food that’s good for you should taste good and be good for the people who grow it”, they’ve been bringing fairtrade organic bananas into the country from Samoa since 2008, and from Equador since 2008. All Good B’s continue to search for and support ethical producers so we can enjoy ‘fair food’. And we’ll be enjoying lots of fairtrade bananas throughout the Tour of NZ as they’re generously supplying not only enough bananas for our Teams, but also enough to share with riders at the start of each day! Co-Founder Matt Morrison is fully commited, cycling day 7 of the Tour with us from Pahiatua to Masterton.
Tineli Clothing
Tineli Clothing was founded by Tim and Sandy Vincent in 2005. Upon returning to NZ after several years mountain bike racing in Switzerland they found a shortage of good quality cycle clothing available, so doing what good innovators do when they see a gap, they set about creating their own, and Tineli clothing was born. Tineli are sponsoring us with a special rate on Team Hikurangi t-shirts, so we can ride in comfort and style across the length of the country!
Yealands Estate
Founder Peter Yealand is a leading light in New Zealand’s elite penn of Kiwi innovative thinkers, his vision (a thing of legend) is the power behind the creation of New Zealand’s first fully sustainable carboNZero certified winery. Yealand’s have generously donated some wine to help Hikurangi with our fundraising efforts.
