Thinking Ahead - What sort of legacy will we feel proud to hand on

Conscious Consumers

What’s the Goal?

Conscious Consumers is a project that was created by the 42collective, a not-for profit charitable organisation based in Wellington. Their vision is for New Zealand to be a place where it’s easy for people to live socially and environmentally responsible lifestyles and is all about supporting better business. The main goal is to normalise and celebrate ethical business practices in New Zealand.

What does success look like?

This project will be successful if the Conscious Consumer business model is present in all major retail sectors and if it can acquire and retain over 20,000 consumer members in NZ. Furthermore, there will be an increase of the presence of ethical business practices in NZ.

How’s it going?

The organisation will be focusing on continual growth within the café sector and an expansion into restaurants, bars and catering companies as well as into the South Island. The rebuilding of their website will make the transaction of information much easier as well as incorporating a user-friendly smartphone app. In addition to the website a national promotion and marketing strategy will be developed and implemented to spread their vision worldwide.

How are we involved?

Hikurangi is working closely with Conscious Consumers to accelerate their business development plan. Through the Compass Network we are aiming to support the team shape their long-term business strategy and develop an impact measurement framework that captures the positive impact being delivered by their participating business partners. Hikurangi will provide personal funding as well as pro-bono Compass Network assistance.
